Born of Nigerian Ibo and British parentage, Paul was raised in Blackburn, UK.
Paul began Secondary School teaching in Manchester's notoriously crime infested Moss Side district and over 13 years taught Art, P.E (Physical Education), Maths, English, P.S.E. (Personal & Social Education), Social Sciences, Geography and History.
In 1989, he left school teaching to develop community initiatives and consultancy work. He first of all co-formed the K.E.G. (Kemetic Educational Guidance): a community resource aimed at filling the gaps in cross-cultural education.
In 1998 Paul formed Obi Developments Ltd, a consultancy aimed at the development of multi-cultural resources.
From 2000 to the present, he has also designed, organized and run transformative residential events for adults and young people in the UK, USA, Trinida & Tobago, Ghana, France, South Africa, Holland and beyond for local and national organizations.
Paul Obinna has lectured and presented workshops in dozens of institutions worldwide, including nurseries, schools, F.E. colleges, universities, youth centres, and prisons.
He has facilitated Personal & Professional Development sessions for mentors, college lecturers, schoolteachers, nursery workers, police officers, youth and community workers, government commitees, think tanks, housing officers and counselors especially in the areas of: overcoming social exclusion, constructive awareness of race related issues, engaging disaffected behaviors.
All of Paul's sessions are delivered from a strong foundation based in psychological and historical reference as well as his lengthy background in engaging personal & professional development first hand.

Beyond these endeavors, he has also acted as consultant for numerous fashion, theatre, radio and television productions.
Paul Obinna is also a freelance consultant (now trading under the name 'GRIOT'), programme designer and trainer, promoting his ideals of Personal & Professional Development within Education and Business through Cultural, Emotional & Social Literacy.
As well as further developing the TIMELINE™Initiative, his key future activities will include co-ordination of TIME Seasonal Schools and the validation of 'The Dual-Heritage Issues' for children and adults from other than British Origin and 'The evolution of the Meridian Project' which deals with balancing strategies for children & adults of African and European Mixed Parentage.
Paul has been a Martial Arts practitioner & instructor from the age of fifteen. He holds a 1st Degree Black Belt in Ju-Jitsu and Kempo Karate (BJJA), a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Freestyle Karate (BKA) and a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Bushindo Kai - Cross application of Martial Arts Theory (BKA).
His keen sporting interests also include football. He was also an accomplished amateur boxer in his youth.
